With the Fringe rolling into town this week, local designer Kate Campbell is taking the stress out of frantic February with her tips on how to style your festival wear.
The 27-year-old who conquered fashion heavy weights in Sydney before returning home to open her new boutique, Coltish says it’s all about injecting some fun into your wardrobe.
“The Fringe is the perfect time to add some colour to your outfit and be a bit more daring… My boutique has a real boho-luxe style, perfect for festivals,” says Kate Campbell.
With denim a key staple at festivals, Kate recommends steering away from the classics and mixing it up with chambray.
“It’s a light fabric perfect for the heat… We have a chambray mini dress with a gorgeous tie up, off shoulder sleeve, or a chambray layered strapless playsuit,” says Kate Campbell.
With the Fringe a time to stand out, Kate says Coltish is home to some key accessories to dress up your festival outfit.
“A cool hat or a striking pair of sunglasses from Quay can really pull an outfit together … We have beautiful statement necklaces and earrings, as well as bold clutches from The Luxe Project,” says Kate Campbell.
To put your best foot forward, Kate says you must consider your surroundings, with the Croquet Club moving to the grassy Riverbank.
“If you want to go for a heel then a block heel is best to prevent you from getting stuck in the grass… Wedges are also a good option or lace up styles to allow you to adjust how firmly they fit,” says Kate Campbell.
With the Croquet Club the place to be seen this season, Kate has selected a number of her favourite dresses, set to standout.
“The Yves Lace Up slip dress is simple but so striking, made from beautiful light linen and features a lace up detail at the back which can also be worn at the front if you like a bit of cleavage.
“We also have an amazing Sea Jewel skort dress which is a mix between a playsuit and a dress… It’s off the shoulder and is made out of such comfy, lightweight fabric, not to mention is super flattering.” says Kate Campbell.
Items from Kate’s festival wear guide can be purchased at Coltish Boutique on 165 King William Road, or online at www.coltish.com.au.
