Australia’s most historic design institution, the prestigious Fashion Design Studio, Sydney TAFE presented seven innovators at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia on Friday, 20th May.
This year’s Innovators are the first to graduate with a Bachelor of Fashion Design from TAFE.
Each Innovator executed a compelling collection. Demetra Kakopieros communicated her political views through 3D printing and face jewellery, Jessica Van’s organic silhouettes revealed her background as a scientist, Oxblood brought a refreshing, anarchist attitude to his unisex dressing, Ipsen’s neon bright threads and Frederick Jenkin’s knitwear and moulded leathers represented a new era in couture, whilst Renee Saliba and Ahmed Taufick delivered a new generation in menswear.
Special guests who came to support the new guard in Australian fashion included super bloggers Carmen Hamilton, Natalie Cantell, Mimie Lashiry and 2015 Fashion Laureate winner and publishing legend, Nancy Pilcher, along with international fashion authorities.
The Fashion Design Studio would like thank their hair and make up sponsors, Redken and MAC.
