EXPECT FIERCE RIVALRIES IN BLOCKBUSTER
ROUND THREE OF THE HUNGRY JACK’S NBL
The Brisbane Bullets and the Sydney Kings will open the round on Australia Day at Nissan Arena. The Bullets will also face off against Queensland rivals the Cairns Taipans in the first ‘Sunshine Stoush’ of the season. The NBL will also return to Victoria for the first time this season when Melbourne United plays cross town rival South East Melbourne Phoenix in the ‘Throwdown’ at Bendigo Stadium on January 31. In other round three highlights, reigning champions the Perth Wildcats will host games against the Phoenix and the SKY Sport New Zealand Breakers at RAC Arena. Adelaide will also host games against the Breakers and the Kings and Cairns will play host to The Hawks. NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said: “We’re excited to be able to mark Australia Day with a game in Brisbane and schedule the first Sunshine Stoush of NBL21 between the Bullets and the Taipans. “We’re also delighted to be able to play our first game in Victoria this season with the Throwdown between our two Melbourne teams. Bendigo is a great basketball city in regional Victoria and we look forward to playing more games there across the season. “We will continue to monitor the situation across Australia in the hope we can also schedule games in New South Wales as soon as possible. It was great to see so many fans attend the first round last weekend and we hope venue capacities can continue to build across the season. “The round went as smoothly as we could have hoped and we witnessed world class basketball and already this is shaping as another very even and fiercely contested season.” |
