The National Basketball League has released times for every game for the 2017-18 season. Saturday twilight games starting at 5.30pm will become a weekly fixture this season and will primarily feature the five teams representing Australian capital cities. There are more games fixtured across weekends as compared to last season, with only two Monday night games to be played. The Adelaide 36ers and Cairns Taipans will play the first ever NBL Christmas Eve game at Titanium Security Arena on Sunday December 24 at 3pm. “I am confident that the Saturday games at 5.30pm and Sunday games at 3pm will prove popular with fans, and especially families, attending games in summer. But I expect that they will also prove to be popular time slots for fans watching on TV,” NBL Chief Executive Jeremy Loeliger said. Brisbane Bullets’ round two game against New Zealand Breakers has been moved to round eight at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre to allow the Bullets to travel to the US to play Phoenix Suns in the NBA pre-season on October 13. Brisbane will also be hosting a home game on the Gold Coast. Sydney Kings will travel to play Utah Jazz on October 2 before returning to play their opening round game against Adelaide 36ers at Qudos Bank Arena on October 7. Melbourne United will travel to the US to play Oklahoma City Thunder on October 8 between its first and second round games against Adelaide 36ers. Games will also be played on Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve, and the league will mark its 40thconsecutive season by celebrating heritage month throughout January 2017. There will not be any games held on the weekends of November 25-26 and February 24-25 so that players will be available for FIBA World Cup qualifying matches during these windows. The NBL season tips off on Thursday October 5 when Adelaide 36ers play Melbourne United. Every game during 2017-18 will be broadcast live on FOX SPORTS.
