Media Release: NBL appoints GM – Media and Communications
The NBL is pleased to announce the appointment of Nick Johnston as General Manager Media and Communications.
Johnston joins the NBL from Supercars where he was General Manager PR and Communications. He was previously General Manager Corporate Affairs and Communications for the Greater Western Sydney Giants from 2011-15.
Before joining the Giants he was Public Affairs Manager for the AFL following a 20-year career in journalism working in newspapers, TV and radio.
NBL Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Loeliger said: “Nick brings a wealth of experience to the NBL including playing a key role in building the Giants during their first three years in the AFL competition. His experience across traditional and digital media platforms will help us build coverage and exposure of the NBL during this important growth phase for the sport.”
Johnston said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to be part of the NBL during this exciting time for the sport and look forward to helping cement it as one of Australia’s premier entertainment products and one of the leading basketball competitions in the world.”
Johnston will be based in Melbourne and will take up his new role on April 26
