The Illawarra Hawks have upset the Adelaide 36ers to steal a win at the Titanium Security Arena, 96 – 87.
Trailing by nine points at three quarter time, the Hawks turned the game on its head to storm home in the last five minutes and pinch the shock win.
After last weeks fiery game against Melbourne United, the 36ers were out to prove a point. The first half was full of Adelaide highlights as they led by 11 points going into the halftime break.
The determined Hawks team were able to drag their way back into the game in the fourth quarter. An outstanding performance by young star Demitrius Conger (26 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists) and Rotnei Clarke (25 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists) led their team to the upset win.
Adelaide were left scratching their heads about the that one got away. Ramone Moore (24 points, 5 rebounds) was the standout for the home team. Adelaide will face the regenerated Sydney Kings next week at home to try and get their season back on track.
The Hungry Jack’s NBL Season continues tomorrow at 3:00pm when Brisbane Bullets play the Cairns Taipans at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre followed by the top of the table clash between Perth and the New Zealand Breakers at Perth Arena at 7:00pm AEDT.
