The Adelaide 36ers have held off the New Zealand Breakers in a nail-biting finish at Titanium Security Arena.
Adelaide’s Shannon Shorter turned on the heat in the final minutes to secure the win over the Breakers by three points, 88-85.
After a dominant first half, the Adelaide 36ers found themselves fighting off an impressive New Zealand comeback. In a thrilling finish, Adelaide were able to hold off the Breakers with a inspired performance by Shannon Shorter who finished the game with a career high 23 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.
Adelaide’s Mitch Creek returned from injury with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists, while star import Josh Childress had 17 points, 6 rebounds to help take the win.
Edgar Sosa (16 points) led the Breakers’ second half comeback but ultimately it wasn’t enough. The loss sees Perth now assume top spot on the ladder.
Hungry Jack’s NBL action continues tomorrow when the Sydney Kings play Melbourne United at Qudos Bank Arena. The game will be broadcast live on FOX SPORTS 503 and SBS VICELAND at 5.30pm.
