Approximately 8500 people turned up on a sunny remembrance day afternoon, for the final match of rnd 5 of the A-leaguer between Adelaide United and Brisbane Roar.
The round was billed as the debut of new Red recruit and Adelaide boy James Troisi, officially playing his first home game at Coopers and boy did he not disappoint playing in the traditional number 10 role, controlling possession as he should, reminding everybody why he has played 37 times for the Socceroos.
The first half was a one way streak, as Adelaide United moved the ball with ease, although there on goal count was low, they dominated possession centrally and Toure and Maria had close calls. In the 27th Adelaide finally hit the back of the net with Toure, however he was clearly offside and the goal cancelled.
When the second half resumed Adelaide resumed domination and again were denied by an offside goal to Melusnic. Finally in the 84th minute, Troisi playing on down the right delicately cut the ball back to Riley McGree, waiting in the box to finish off an easy goal. The match would end 1-0 and United are now on a 2 game win streak, plus recently picking up some silver wear from the FFA final.
Next week the reds face a tough Central Coast who are looking to find some competitive form after a loss to Melbourne City. The man of the match goes to home boy Troisi, although big games were played by Strain, Melusnic, Toure and Izzo, who stopped two would be goals from a rarely troubled Adelaide net.
