As children, going to the cinema was such an exciting event, now its all popcorn and sugar filled drinks, blending in with the masses. It does not hold the same air of anticipation. But that all changes when you venture to Palace Barracks. It has captured those feelings of looking forward to dressing up and feeling grown up and at the same time waiting to be filled with wonder. Tonight’s event was beautifully created to give us a sneak peak of Lavazza’s Italian Film Festival. And wasn’t it just bellisimo. The pre event was accompanied with beautiful wines coupled with Bucci Restaurant in James Street’s tasters along with a beautifully presented box filled with Italian delights. We were treated with a truly captivating movie;
The Space Between: a collaboration of Italian and Australian artists and filmmakers. This symbiotic relationship showcased the raw Australian approach to life, married with the reserved emotions from the Italians. What this movie offered was a raw, authentic approach to life. It does not give the grand Hollywood feel, but instead it absorbs you along the journey, just as real life’s ventures do. It was a unique experience to be enjoying authentic Italian fare whilst watching the preparation of food in the storyline. I urge you all to have a romantic, grown up evening at the Palace Barracks and enjoy the Italian Film Festival. Be sure to spoil yourself and watch the Premiere with the writer and director. If one cannot go to Italy, this will make you feel like you are entranced in an Italian landscape. Mi Piace!
