There are nights that you venture out and the evening becomes a perfect storm; where every element combines to form a magical evening. This magnificent event was held at the Palace Cinema at the Barracks which presented the 2016 Lavazza Italian Film Festival driven by Fiat.
This glamorous opening event (as only the Italians can do), commenced with a red carpet arrival and greeted by a handsome man offering roses, champagne upon arrival and the AMORE sign in lights, you just knew it was going to be an amazing evening. Upon entering the cinema, we were greeted with delicious Bucci fare and a gift bag filled with Italian goodies.
The festival opening began with an Italian film called Perfetti sconosciuti (Perfect Strangers). This movie thrives on the ability to surprise and shock the audience; taking you on a roller coaster of emotions with more twists and turns that one could not predict. Just when you think you have it figured out, it takes you on another capitulating turn. This movie showed it can take our secrets and bring them out into the open and sometimes these secrets are more than anybody ever imagined they could be. This film is a modern day look at how our lives are beholden to our little mobile devices in our pockets. Devices full of our secrets. This movie captivated the crowds and held them to the rolling credits, ending in resounding applause.
A first class film to open the festival. But the entertainment didn’t stop there. The Palace Barracks hosted an amazing after party with Bucci providing delicious finger food, beautiful reds and champagne and Rush an effervescent band that got the crowd moving. You know it’s a wonderful evening when no one wants it to end. A decadent, entertaining evening.
Serata perfetta!
