What: Comedy Hypnotist Matt Hale’s Feelgood Factory
Where: Gluttony – Empire
Duration: 60 minutes
Genre: Magic, Hypnotism
(Reviewed by John Glennie)
The is a high-energy show, with Matt starting off running and dancing around the stage for the first 5 minutes, getting the crowd into the mood.
He had everyone doing an exercise in relaxing and focus then called for volunteers to come up onto the stage – with about 20 eager “victims” taking up the offer. This is unlike Isaac Lomman who I saw earlier in the week. He goes around the crowd who are doing one of the “tests” and selects who he wanted on stage (which included me!). This time I wanted to watch and not participate.
Now I realise what I must have looked like up there!!!! Having been a participant I was watching the volunteers carefully. Throughout the show some were tapped on the shoulder and sent back to their chair. Some of the remaining I really don’t think were “under” but some obviously were – and they were the prize performers, probably because they weren’t aware of what they were doing.
This is Matt Hale’s first time in Adelaide, after performing world-wide, and he didn’t disappoint. A very energetic and funny show and well worth seeing.
