(Review by Poppy Maio)
Dom Chambers returns to the Adelaide Fringe with his new
show, Fake Wizard.
This is not your average magic show, and probably one to leave the kids home
for. There is an immediate familiarity as the show opens with Dom’s famous beer
and bag trick that made him an international star on America’s Got Talent.
Despite the familiar trick, the crowd was still in awe of this mind messing illusion. Dom’s charismatic and warm engagement with the audience makes it feel like an intimate gathering of friends sharing stories and of course magic. Dom invites the audience into his life, sharing childhood dreams and an introduction to his special assistant.
Be prepared for audience participation in some weird and wacky activities, as well as some hilarious comedic moments and sexual innuendo. There is a bit of everything in this show, including card tricks, algorithms, a blender and a good old-fashioned game of telephone. You will also see Siri like you’ve never seen her before.
Everyone loves a bit of magic and this is definitely one you should watch (without the kids of course).
