Adelaide Fringe Review – Limbo Unhinged

By Christie Thompson · On March 10, 2017

If you missed Limbo at the Adelaide Fringe Festival last year like I did, never fear! The team is back with a brand new show, with Adelaide as its first stop.

A stunning mix of cabaret, circus, acrobatics, comedy, singing and more, the premiere of Limbo Unhinged is leaving Adelaide gob smacked, the Eventalaide team included.

To begin with, we’ll state the obvious; every cast member of this show is incredible. Usually you’ve got a favourite, not in Limbo Unhinged. This act captures the audience’s attention to such an extent that there wasn’t a pair of eyes that could look away from the stage, unless of course you had a performer in the air above your head!

The production boasts seriously impressive talent, including a sword swallower, contortionist, acrobats, pole masters, singers, beat boxers and more.

The acrobatics are full of suspense, the kind that leaves you on the edge of your seat shocked that nobody was dropped or injured. The contortionist will show you body movements you’ve never seen before, cheeky guys on giant bending poles will be on stage one second and stealing your hat (or walking stick) the next. The girls will leave you in a trance and the music that accompanies each act was hand crafted specifically for the show by New York’s Sxip Shirey. It’s the kind of production that you never want to come to an end.

We could tell you that this is one of the best shows you’ll ever see, but the standing ovation, feet stamping on the floorboards, wild screaming and whistling at the end of this performance says it all.

10/10, Limbo Unhinged. We are very impressed.
