Review – Geoff Jenke
Claire Hooper grew up in Perth, married a New Zealander and lives in Melbourne with her husband and two small children, all who feature prominently in stories during the show. She is currently one of the hosts on Foxtel’s Great Australian Bake off, eating up to 33 biscuits in one show.
The show starts a few minutes early, catching a few people out who were sent to sit in the “naughty corner” of the venue. Claire started with a “Grandma” moment story of going to the supermarket in her slippers. It went on a bit and I was wondering where this show would go. To Claire’s credit she reigned it in and started talking about biscuits and from then on, she had me completely won over.
Claire just talked for the hour with subjects changing and ranging from birds having sex on the road, biscuits (naturally), being a mother of two, going to an expensive restaurant being amongst the topics.
Sometimes she explored intimate details about her and husband Wade. It was a bit too much information about her relationship, but it WAS funny, while also being a bit cringeworthy. Claire was never uncomfortable or awkward with the material presented, although Wade told her she had to add a bit at the end to explain why what happened, happened.
A class act from a lady who doesn’t act classy. There’s no biscuits like show biscuits.
