Adelaide Fringe Review – Blanc De Blanc

By Christie Thompson · On February 24, 2017

Blanc De Blanc – Review
Spiegeltent, GOUD Adelaide

Blanc de Blanc kicks off with a bang at the Adelaide Fringe

The Adelaide Fringe has always impressed South Australians with its variety of performances in the Garden of Unearthly Delights, and this year they have impressed Eventalaide with the spectacular production that is Blanc de Blanc.

Blanc de Blanc is a sparkling ensemble of bubbles, body glitter, incomprehensible flexibility, and talent that oozes sex appeal while making you laugh and blush at the same time.

While the performance featured themes to be expected from cabaret, including a tall, chiseled Frenchman host, Champagne as a way of life, and the classic strange humoured carnie-esque characters, the production was anything but stereotypical.

Modern party music and dance moves (ever seen acrobats twerking?) gave the performance a fresh take on classic cabaret. The outfits were a showstopper on their own with sparkling sequins, nipple tassles, and subtle influences from the 1920’s. The acrobatics are also truly impressive. Spinning in the sky in bird-cages, passionate duets, fireworks being shot out of interesting places, break dancing and all!

If you have ever wanted to witness a Cabaret show mixed with acrobatics and delightfully inappropriate humour, this is absolutely the show for you. Just don’t take your kids as it has an R18 rating, and watch out for giant balloons that may be flying towards your head!

This show receives a 10/10 from us.
