Duration: 40 minutes
It’s a big yes from me. The After Hours Cabaret Club (AHCC) is probably the most engaging show I’ve seen, as seven different acts come together to individually showcase their quirky talents – a variety show to say the least.
Not only is AHCC professionally perfected, but it also flawlessly sums up the Fringe Festival. Expect to witness acts that are straight up weird, comedic improv-singing, acrobatic that will definitely make you gasp, puppeteering with a cabaret twist, and of course burlesque.
In a little more detail without giving too much away – there’s a few nipple tassels involved, someone pretty much swings from the chandelier using only one body part, someone else uses a saw as a violin, there’s a mannequin featured, and each act is something you’d expect to see on Australia’s Go Talent…and I don’t mean auditions.
Three days after witnessing the AFCC, my mate said she was “still trying to process what happened” during the show. So if that’s anything to go by, you’re in for a treat.
Your ears will also be blessed by a live band who will be pumping out some jazzy tunes throughout the show.
I personally could not fault the AHCC…If you’re over the age of 18, are alright with profanities and sexual references, then go, go, GO!
Here’s what some spectators had to say:
“That was the best burlesque dancing I’ve ever seen.”
“I’m tired just watching that s**t.”
“F**k off that was so good.”
