The Kook’s To Return To Adelaide For The First Time in Five Years

Brit-pop revivalists, The Kooks today announced they will be returning to South Australia for the first time in five years on December 28 to headline Beach Life, a festival-style set-up with the perfect sunset view on the Glenelg foreshore at Jimmy Melrose Park, between The Grand and the beach.  

The Kooks will kick off the 2018 New Year’s weekend, bringing their own personalised selection of Australia’s hottest musical talent, transforming Glenelg into a one-day festival for an evening of starry night sky sing-alongs. Completing the event will be funk rockers Winston Surfshirt, Brisbane’s Last Dinosaurs, and Adelaide’s homegrown rising star, MANE.

Hitting Australia in support of their new album ‘Let’s Go Sunshine,’ which is being touted as their very best. The Kooks bring all the grit, glory and jangling guitars of the indie brit-pop scene they’ve ruled for over a decade, armed with what is sure to be the guitar album of 2018 and a back catalogue of pure indie gold.  The Kooks have enjoyed a steady ascent since their five-times platinum 2006 debut ‘Inside In/Inside Out’. A new wave of young fans have seen them amass over one billion streams and head out on a number of sold-out world tours.

Joining The Kooks is the laid-back indie rock with a splash of r’n’b, Winston Surfshirt. The band soundtracks life’s cruisier moments, when the sun is setting, the vibe is rising and someone just handed you a cold one. Led by lead singer and multi-instrumentalist Winston, the talented six-piece outfit Winston Surfshirt has ticked off the top festival boxes including Splendour in the Grass, supported the legendary Midnight Oil and rocked almost every warehouse gig and block party Australia’s sunburnt sidewalks have to offer.

Hitting Adelaide hot off the release of their third studio album, Yumeno Garden, Last Dinosaursdeliver a sound that harks back to the rhythmic 2000s indie of bands like Phoenix, The Kooks, and Two Door Cinema Club, serving sharp and polished dance-rock. Their breakthrough full-length arrived in 2012. In a Million Years, debuted in the Top Ten on the Australian albums chart. The band toured the world including Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia. After a quick line-up change the new incarnation of the band released the sophomore album Wellness, produced by Scott Horscroft (Silverchair, the Presets, Empire of the Sun), Wellness added ethereal tones to their existing energetic style and debuted in the Top 20 of the ARIA charts.

MANE is Adelaide’s newest brightest shining star, MANE’s explosive indie pop has the unique ability to have you in awe of her energy while simultaneously singing along to the saddest of songs. With a dynamic live show, it’s unsurprising that MANE took to the stage at the 2018 Groovin the Moo festival, Wayville alongside acts such as Ball Park Music, Vera Blue, and Portugal. The Man.
