Modern indie rock mainstays The Jungle Giants made their second pit stop for the ‘Together We Can Work Together’ Australian Tour delivering a scintillating performance at renowned Adelaide venue, The Gov.
Providing three well equipped supporting acts gave sufficient time for the audience to arrive and set the mood. Despite the elongated changeover between supporting acts and headliners, when The Jungle Giants strolled on stage for their humble intro there was thankfully no excitement lost. Reasonable interaction with the diverse crowd was maintained throughout the set whilst the band bopped about with quirky moves. Blending the old and the new was no problem for the now seasoned Jungle Giants. Old classics transitioned perfectly into modern anthems, providing the upliftingly mellow tone now accustomed to the band. Overcrowding was no issue at all with the audience fading to almost nothing towards the outskirts of the building, creating a rather intimate setting. Consistent silhouettes of dancing hands flickered through the blue and purple lighting conveying a somewhat comforting atmosphere.
Leaving the stage with hit anthem ‘She’s a Riot’, the band was then encouraged back for a generous two song encore where they engagingly requested “Everyone sing as loud as they can.” The mood was high, expectations were outdone.
With combination of a well selected venue and lighting curated to the mood, the floor was left with nothing but satisfaction. It’s safe to say we needn’t worry about a dim future for this accomplished bunch.
