We’ve had a blur of excitement here at The Gov as this past week has not only seen non-stop shows, but we’ve also juggled a tonne of new announces, including The Gov’s Fringe program for 2023.
Highlights of what’s to come:
New Years Eve will go off with a Bang at our Latino NYE Carnival, with live music from Sabor A Cuba Band, Samba showgirls La Chicas Bomba, DJ Seniorita and Guests, plus the La Bomba Latin Dance Crew holding a dance workshop so you too can move like liquid. It’ll be hot, hot, hot at The Gov on Saturday 31 December.
Tuesday 2 May will see enigmatic British outfit, Sleep Token, perform their alternative prog-metal at The Gov, in their first headline Australian tour.
Prog-rock fans who love classic, immersive guitar-driven sounds will be lining up to see San Diego’s Earthless perform on Monday 13 March.
Eleven albums deep, Portland’s Everclear may be known for hits Santa Monica and Father of Mine, but their discography is so much more than that and they keep on making music. They’ll be here to share it all on Thursday 23 February.
Meg Mac continues to grow and go from strength to strength in her music, and new album, Matter of Time, is a testament to that. She’s an awesome live performer and will be bringing her show to The Gov on Tuesday 23 May.
Rockers British India have just received ARIA Platinum and Gold Record status for their songs I Can Make You Love Me and Suddenly, due to an uptick in streaming through the pandemic, so they’re celebrating with an Aussie tour that brings them to The Gov on Saturday 29 April.
Joni Mitchell’s ‘Blue’ album turns 50 next year, and the glorious singer, Katie Noonan, will perform the album in full, accompanied by guitar virtuoso Ben Hauptmann. What’s best is it’s on Mother’s Day afternoon, Sunday 14 May, a perfect way to celebrate the wonder women in our lives.
Irish singer, Mary Coughlan, is musical royalty in her home country. She brings power, emotion and stories into her songs and will undoubtedly capture everyone under her spell at The Gov on Wednesday 12 April.
The Satellites, The Overits and In The Doghouse are at The Gov on Saturday 7 January with an exciting night of Rockabilly, Ska, & a whole lot more.
