Let’s start announcements with something new that we’ve cooked up at The Gov. If you love a bit of music trivia, or have that mate that is always shouting out the answers at Spicks and Specks or RocKwiz, well this is the thing for you. The GOV QUIZ starts at The Gov’s Front Bar on Wednesday 8 September and will continue weekly. Our very own Quiz Mistress Natty is running the night and there will be plenty of drink giveaways, prizes and, of course, don’t forget the GLORY! Dinner is served from 5pm and the quis runs from 7-9pm.
Next announce is all about the venues who have been doing it tough while lockdowns hit us hard. Save Our Stages is an initiative started by musician Lainie Anderson, and has been picked up by a number of venues who want to make sure we can all keep on doing what we love. Local legends Chunky Custard have stepped up to donate their time and perform at the Save Our Stages fundraiser at The Gov on Friday 10 September.
If you love records, The Gov’s Record Fair (organised by Mr V Music) will be the first of its kind for our venue, on Saturday 18 September from 10am-3pm. Come along, get hands on with your favourite music, and take home some gems!
We love a bit of heavy music and Troops of Doom are certainly going to get that happening when they hit us with the best of Sepultura’s amazing sounds on Friday 17 September. They’ll be joined by Alice Unchained and Pub Crawl.
Free Beer! (The Band), are a 10-piece big band who rock out with soul, jazz, lounge pop and swing music. They’re playing on the afternoon of Sunday 19 September.
Lightening things up with some smooth soulful sounds is Supernova, who are playing Tower of Power at The Gov on Friday 24 September.
And the following night, Saturday 25 September, indie-alternative, psychedelic rockers Halfway Charlie play us new track Breezy along with others from their second EP, with support from LOLA and Yorke Heath.
Rounding out a cracking weekend, The BordererS are back in the venue on Sunday 26 September with ‘Whatever You Want’ (Part 1), playing the best of Status Quo alongside a swag of their originals that you know and love .
