Splendor On The Grass mini sideline festival, ‘Spin Off’ returned to Adelaide again this year with a fantastic lineup! Yes, Wolf Alice (UK), Catfish And The Bottleman (UK) and Childish Gambino (US) were here in Adelaide!
Triple J’s 2019 Unearthed winner, Towns was the opening act. They absolutely owned the stage! Definitely check those guys out if you haven’t already!
Spin Off was located at the Adelaide showgrounds, outside, and was set up with many food stalls and a big tent.
Upon entry with a VIP ticket, I was given a free ride voucher to use on one of the three rides there, that was a nice surprise and great idea!
I was very impressed with the food options available, more than most music festivals provide! I chose to eat a rustic salad bowl + fritter from ‘Let Them Eat’. It was full of flavour and presented beautifully.
KFC was one of the major sponsers and were giving away free food every hour to all festival goers. I thought it was a cool idea, my friends loved it.
Cleaners monitored most areas of the festival, keeping it as clean as possible, less litter→better for the environment. Happy me haha!
The toilets in the VIP area were very clean, and were stocked up with sunscreen, sanitiser, deodorant, hairspray and moisturiser for us girls to freshen up throughout the day.
The VIP area had two bars and a pie stand.
I was a bit disappointed you couldn’t see the stage that well from the VIP areas seating.
A suggestion to make the area that one step better would have been adding a coffee stand as well.
Stands were set inside one of the showgrounds buildings. Vintage clothing, recycled fashion, jewellery, craft making and even a phone charger stall were inside. Was nice to see local SA designers/shop owners there.
Cloak room was also available to everyone who wanted to store anything for $5.
A lot of people attended this year, making it very busy and overcrowded at times, I found it hard to find a quiet place to sit down and chill with my friends or even get close enough to the stage to see.
The stage was set outside under a massive tent. The sound quality at times wasn’t that fantastic, making it hard to hear the artists voices.
There were a few things that might have need changing or adding. But each artist put so much energy and enthusiasm into their sets making it a very fun day for everyone!
