Adelaide Entertainment Centre was a showcase to an audience ranging from teenagers to over 40,s to see So Pop brought by Frontier Touring.
We wanted to see our favourite hits from the 1990’s to the early 2000’s. The hosts were Cheez TV Jade and Ryan who presented the acts and kept the crowd entertained. They did not deliver to their full potential as they were not organised and kept changing their ideas which was frustrating.
The first act was Mr President who was fully energised and ready to party. He is originally from Germany and released his famous hot ‘Coco Jamboo in 1996 and four on the floor. He was sensual, charismatic and interacted with the crowd.
The second act was the Outwhere Brothers who were jumping all over the stage and I interacting with the audience . Their song Boom Boom was a favourite and everyone knew the words. Wiggle Wiggle was fun to dance to and this American hip hop duo from Chicago knew how to party. It was great to see their enthusiasm and their gratitude for being in Adelaide Sent from my iPad.
The 3rd act was Two unlimited, a Belgium duo who were dressed all in white and went for the futuristic look. Their songs No Limit and Tribal Dance were appreciated but their songs had the same techno beat and sounded very alike.
Lou Bega is an amazing performer. He topped the charts for eight weeks in 1999 for his single Mambo No 5 and did not disappoint. The crowd were excited with his dance moves , charisma and stage presence. Audience interaction was excellent and everyone was having a good time. His back up dancers worked well with him and he was outstanding.
Eiffel 65 the best selling Italian group for dance/pop in 2000 sang their hit song Blue. Their stage presence was lacking in energy and the crowd felt flat. Their attire consisted of track pants and a tshirts. It looked like no effort was made with their look. The tribute to Avici was a favourite as the video montage and the phone lights in the crowd was a touching.
Blue the English boy and with 3 number 1 UK hits we’re loving their time on stage. They danced, interacted with the crowd with everyone screaming their names. They all moved around the stage and were having a great time. Their songs Signed, Sealed, Delivered, All Rise and One Love brings back great memories, Blue was absolutely one of the best acts of the night.
Bewitched are an Irish pop group whose debut album in 1998 was a huge chart success. Their songs Rollercoaster, Blame it on the Weatherman and C’est La Vie were thoroughly enjoyed and they acknowledged the fans for the success music has given them. Even though many years have passed they are as passionate as ever.
Benga Boys are a Dutch group who won the world music awards for the best selling dance group in 2001. They can be remembered by the Benga bus in the early 2000,s.
Their famous songs Boom Boom Boom , We Like to Party, We’re going to Ibiza kept the crowd singing dancing and cheering.
Each member has their own style. And finesse. There were a few songs that were repeated and they did all sound very the same.
They were excited to be performing and enjoyed being in Australia.
Last. but not least was the greatest pop group from Denmark. Their debut album. In 1997 and the hit song Barbie Girl brought them to international success. The stage presence was not as expected and not much effort was made in the clothing attire. It lacked the wow factor and the momentum of the other groups.
It was great seeing everyone reliving the music from the pop era 1990,s to 2000,s and brought back many great memories. These artists gave us a piece of history that inspired us, kept us motivated and helped us enjoy life.
Eventalaide was fortunate enough to stand close to the stage and we wanted to thank the entertainment centre for allowing us to review this piece of history that was loved by millions and still is.
I would give the show 7/10 as some acts did not impress the audience. Overall it was a great show and I would see it again.
