GET YOUR FIX OF LIVE & LOCAL MUSIC DIRECT FROM THE GOV
Live music is at the heart of everything that happens at The Gov, so while the doors are closed the hotel is live streaming two of its favourite weekly musical events.
Music-lovers can enjoy the Adelaide Ukulele Appreciation Society every Wednesday from 7-8pm and the Friday Free For All open mic every Friday from 8-9pm, all from the comfort of their own home.
The ukulele session will be hosted by Richard Tonkin, who will present a beginners class from 7-7.30pm and intermediate class / song workshop from 7.30-8pm, with a special guest joining him each week.
The Friday Free for All’s regular hosts Joel McMillan, Tom Bettany, Michael Bidstrup and Josh Fleedler will rotate the MC role each week, and present four specially selected open mic performers who will be on-stage each 15 minutes throughout the hour.
The events are being presented in partnership with the City of Charles Sturt through the ‘Live & Local’ program and are funded through their economic support and stimulus package, which aims to provide paid work to local musicians, re-connect local venues with their audience, and encourage residents to re-engage with public spaces and local businesses. We are very proud and grateful to be a part of this initative.
All measures will be taken to ensure the health and safety of participants in these events in line with COVID-19 restrictions and we hope that we can open up to small audiences as those restrictions lift.
