A provoking reminder of just how beautiful music can be.
He manages to clear the cabaret style tables and chairs at the Gov and has the crowd gathered around the stage in awe within the first set.
Hardly a hand held mobile device out in sight. Just people present, almost trance-like, and enjoying the entertainment.
Josh Pyke is saying farewell with his last tour this year before a well deserved hiatus. It has now been ten years (yes, how the time has gone) since the debut and iconic album Memories and Dustwas released.
Josh may look slightly different but sounds as fresh and clean as the recordings on the album.
Accompanied with guitar, bass, and drums, the first set was the Memories and Dust album in full, followed by some ‘best of’ in the second set.
The whole crowd remembered the lyrics to Middle of the Hill, Buttons, and The Lighthouse Song. Conversations are struck between strangers about memories they have while listening to these songs over the years.
Josh shares a story of the song he wrote that he was playing for the first time when he was staying in a share house and his girlfriend came around, who is now his wife.
Iconically Pyke provides a truthful honesty that is attractive and entertaining, weaving stories between music culminating in raw and open songs and a night sure to have a lasting warmness.
