Adelaide’s largest late night entertainment venue, HQ Complex, reopened its doors on the weekend in the heart of the city’s premium party destination, Hindley Street.
Previously located on the corner of West and North Terrace, HQ Complex was established in 2006 and has been an iconic and multi-award winning nightclub for over a decade. The move to Hindley Street means the venue can cater to larger and more versatile crowds, offering a capacity of 2,200 party goers across three unique levels
Stephen Rose has been the HQ Director for over 10 years and says, “We wanted to modernise the complex and make it more adaptable. The layout of the new HQ means that we can hold multiple functions and events on the same night, with a heavy focus on live music.
“From supporting local artists to bringing the likes of Pennywise and The Butterfly Effect to Adelaide in the coming months, the change will put HQ on the map as Adelaide’s premier live music destination.”
Another significant change for the $12 million project is the addition of The Hindley, the Hindley Street facing restaurant, which is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night take out.
The Hindley’s Head Chef, Shane Piercy, has been a qualified chef for over twenty years and has worked in some of Adelaide’s most reputable kitchens including the Lion Hotel, Public Caffe and The Sauce Restaurant in Dulwich.
Shane has spent the last few years building and working towards the opening of The Hindley and promises to deliver a mix of classic pub favourites alongside modern inspired dishes in a restaurant he hopes will become one the most buzzing venues in Adelaide.
“People can expect to enjoy contemporary Australian food including wood fired pizzas, pub classics, steaks and restaurant quality dishes, as well as on-the-go food such as slow cooked meats and daily salads during the week,” says Shane.
“The menu is a mix of classic and modern flavours and cooking techniques, executed by chefs who have a passion for good quality food. Where possible we source local produce whilst incorporating this with the best ingredients from abroad.”
The Hindley features a wood fired pizza oven flown over from Italy and the menu will also be available through food delivery applications UberEATS and Deliveroo.
The three-level complex has spared no expense with regards to the sound and lighting experience, with state of the art production of lights and visuals a focal point of the new HQ. The venue features a main room with an al fresco balcony access overlooking Hindley Street and designated VIP areas on the mezzanine wings.
In addition, Gabrielle’s Mezzanine on the third floor can be opened up as part of the main room or closed off with sound proof walls that can cater to small or large, private functions for up to 400 guests.
“We want HQ and The Hindley to be suitable for all demographics and occasions. We now have the ability to trade seven nights a week and we will be showcasing the versatility of the space with entertainment every night of the week,” says HQ Director Stephen Rose.
“The move has put us right in the heart of the action in the vibrant west end of Adelaide. We are confident HQ regulars as well as the next generation of guests, will be blown away with the production systems, the quality of food at The Hindley and the overall vibe of the new space.”
HQ Complex officially opened on Saturday, 28th October with electronic music duo GTA (USA) and HQ favourite Uberjakd the first to grace the decks.
The Hindley will officially open on Wednesday, 1st November from 7:30am til late with late night entertainment from local bands and DJs.
