Secret Sounds presents… HARVEST ROCK MUSIC LOVERS UNITE AT INAUGRUAL EVENT Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 November 2022 Rymill Park / Murlawirrapurka & King Rodney Park / Ityamai-itpina, Adelaide This weekend saw the coming together of some of the biggest acts in the world, across two huge days of premium live music, as the inaugural Harvest Rock took over the inner-city sanctuary of Rymill & King Rodney Parks in Adelaide. From seasoned concert goers to young families and new music fans, the first-time concert saw 15,000 revellers unite each day. Not letting the wet weather dampen their spirits, they enjoyed world class music from the likes of Jack White, Crowded House, Goanna, The Black Crowes, Cat Power, Groove Armada, Tones And I, Sam Fender, Meg Mac, Genesis Owusu, Electric Fields and more. |
Day one highlights included Goanna playing their seminal 80s anthem ‘Solid Rock’ for the final time against a striking backdrop of Uluru, on the last show of their farewell tour. In an Australian first, Kurt Vile joined Courtney Barnett on stage to play their song ‘Intercontinental Breakfast’ from their joint album Lotta Sea Lice, while Tones And I performed atop her epic Welcome To The Madhouse stage set. Groove Armada kept the party going with their mega-hit ‘Superstylin’, while Jack White had the crowd in the palm of his hands while he orchestrated a massive sing-a-long to ‘Steady, as She Goes’, before closing the night with ‘Seven Nation Army’. |
Day two saw Genesis Owusu absolutely command the crowd, with his endless energy and charisma, while Ruby Fields stirring cover of The Church’s ‘Unguarded Moment’, as well as Holy Holy’s upbeat rendition of Lorde’s ‘Green Light’ were clear crowd favourites. Khruangbin turned the Harvest Stage into one giant disco and had the whole audience dancing to their psych funk mastery while UK singer songwriter Sam Fender won thousands of new Aussie fans over on the Vine Stage. Closing out the festival, Crowded House’s set was packed full of feel-good moments, with singer Neil Finn’s infectious call-and-response sing-a-longs bringing the whole crowd together for an unforgettable evening. |
Harvest Rock was just as much about the food and drinks as it was the music, with some of Australia’s best chefs, cellar doors and innovative bars coming together to provide unique high-end experiences. The pinnacle of this was the gorgeous WILDWOOD by Jake Kellie of arkhé, where the Michelin-starred chef and restauranteur collaborated with acclaimed Australian wine critic Nick Stock, to host two intimate lunches with a specially curated menu and wine pairing. Co-producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco said “After many months of planning, we’re thrilled to present a successful inaugural Harvest Rock in Adelaide. Huge thanks to the 15,000 music and food lovers who came out each day to take in the world class live music, as well as the incredible South Australian dining and beverage experiences on offer. It was a truly unique event and we’re proud to have shared it with the close-knit Adelaide community and those who travelled from all over the country to join us. We look forward to many more Harvest Rock events in the future.” South Australian Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison said the State Government has been thrilled to support Secret Sounds in launching Harvest Rock, a new destination music, food, wine and brew festival. “Harvest Rock is a world-class music festival, designed specifically for South Australia by the very talented Jessica Ducrou, Paul Piticco and their Secret Sounds team, aimed to entertain South Australians and visitors alike, and tell the story of South Australia. “The ambition from the South Australian Government, the South Australian Tourism Commission and Secret Sounds is to make this an annual festival and we very much look forward to welcoming them back next year and for years to come.” JACK WHITE (ONLY AUS SHOW) * CROWDED HOUSE * THE BLACK CROWES * KHRUANGBIN * GROOVE ARMADA * SAM FENDER * THE LUMINEERS * TONES AND I * THE AVALANCHES * COURTNEY BARNETT * KURT VILE & THE VIOLATORS (ONLY AUS SHOW) * ANGUS & JULIA STONE * THE TESKEY BROTHERS * HOT CHIP * GOANNA * GENESIS OWUSU * THE LIVING END * CAT POWER * YOU AM I * MEG MAC * MARLON WILLIAMS * HOLY HOLY * ALEX CAMERON * RUBY FIELDS * ALLEN STONE * ELECTRIC FIELDS * TOWNS * SLOWMANGO & ARC PRESENTS NEIL YOUNG’S HARVEST LIVE Harvest Rock is proudly supported by the South Australian Government, through the South Australian Tourism Commission.
