Finnish Formula 1 race winner Valtteri Bottas will attend the 2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival in Victoria Park on Sunday March 26.
Bottas, who drives for Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake, will take part in on-track demonstrations, including in an Alfa Romeo GTV Group A touring car that won the European Touring Car Championship and was raced in Australia by the likes of Formula 1 world champion Alan Jones. It also appeared in the Group A support race at the Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide, driven by Bathurst winner and touring car champion Colin Bond.
In a video message to fans, Bottas also reveals he’s keen to get behind the wheel of a home-grown Australian V8 Supercar. He will also meet fans in the Adelaide Motorsport Festival’s ‘Grand Marquee’ and in the event’s corporate villas, such as the Club Zagame VIP suite.
Bottas will head to Adelaide following the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the second round of the 2023 Formula 1 world championship, with the Adelaide Motorsport Festival held on March 25 and 26, the week before the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
The Finn has made more than 200 grand prix starts with 10 wins (including the 2019 Australian Grand Prix), 67 podiums and 20 pole positions, driving for Williams, AMG Mercedes-Benz and Alfa Romeo over the course of his Formula 1 career.
Held on the Victoria Park section of the Adelaide Street Circuit, the action at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival is fast, furious and frequently changing, with a different category of vehicles on track every 10 to 15 minutes, including more open-wheelers headlined by classic Formula 1 cars, V8 Supercars alongside Heritage Touring Cars, a special Invitational category alongside Demonstration sessions and more.
The list of Formula 1 cars confirmed for the 2023 Adelaide Motorsport Festival includes: two 1985 Scuderia Ferrari 156/85s, two 1989 Brabham BT58 Judds, a 1992 Brabham BT60B Judd, a 1988 Arrows A10B Megatron, a 1988 Larrousse Lola LC88 Cosworth and a 2001 Arrows AX3 Hart, with more still to be confirmed. Sweden’s Stefan Johansson, Formula 1 driver for the likes of Scuderia Ferrari and McLaren, will also be attending the event, getting back behind the wheel of the Scuderia Ferrari 156/85 he raced in Adelaide in 1985.
