A WORLD PREMIERE EVENT
MARKING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF
PINK FLOYD’S FIRST AUSTRALIAN TOUR
Pink Floyd’s legendary rich and powerful sonic soundscape is set to be celebrated in the world premiere event ECLIPSE – Pink Floyd Orchestrated in a spectacular show for one night only at the Adelaide Festival Theatre on 17 July 2021.
With over 40 musicians and singers on stage this special event brings about a combination of the lush orchestral string, wind and horn sounds of the Southern Cross Symphony blended seamlessly with the mastery of ten of Australia’s finest rock musicians to re-create the unmissable and awe-inspiring sound of Pink Floyd in a memorable and uplifting experience. A special guest appearance by theSouth Australian Public Primary Schools Choir (SAPPS Choir) for ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ will surely be a highlight.
Timed to celebrate fifty years since Pink Floyd’s first Australian tour in 1971, this unique celebration of the musical might and majesty of Floyd classics will include Dark Side of the Moon, Breathe, Time, Money, Great Gig in the Sky, Us and Them, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Here, Have A Cigar, Comfortably Numb, Another Brick In The Wall (Part II), Hey You, Learning to Fly, and many more.
Bass player Warwick Cheatle said, ‘each member of the Eclipse band is a highly acclaimed professional performer, from a range of musical genres and backgrounds. What brings us together is the enjoyment that comes from performing the most powerful and amazing music ever written. Add to this, the chance to hear the synthesised sounds of Pink Floyd played with the richness of the orchestral instruments they were electronically simulating takes this aural feast to a new level.’
The Eclipse Band
The 10-piece Eclipse Band comprises Australia’s most experienced musicians and singers with a wealth of national and international touring between them. All originating in Adelaide, the depth of talent within this group and their proficiency at performing with an orchestra is befitting of the calibre of this truly special event.

The Southern Cross Symphony (SXS)
South Australia’s newest professional orchestra the Southern Cross Symphony first came together as an ensemble to perform Led Zeppelin Masters at the Festival Theatre. Following this, Musical Director, Warwick Cheatle recognised South Australia needed a highly professional contemporary ‘show orchestra’ for concert performances to support the highest-profile touring artists and theatre productions.
Southern Cross Symphony comprises world class orchestral performers with incredible pedigrees and a wealth of experience. Their flexibility to perform all genres of music, from classical greats and Broadway hits to progressive rock performances such as Eclipse, Pink Floyd Orchestrated which will mark the official debut of the troupe under the Southern Cross Symphony banner.
Pink Floyd
Formed in London in 1965, Pink Floyd gained an early following as one of the first British psychedelic groups. What made them stand out was their extended compositions and song-cycles, sonic experimentation and philosophical lyrics. They became a leading band of the progressive rock genre. By 2013, Pink Floyd had sold more than 250 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
