Dean Lewis has today shared his new video for single ‘Need You Now’ and announced his debut EP Same Kind of Different will be released on Friday May 12th. The six-track EP will include singles ‘Need You Now’ and his hit ‘Waves’.

The video for ‘Need You Now’ was directed by friend Mick Jones, who also filmed Dean’s video for ‘Waves’ which has now had close to 2 million views. The emotive and cinematic styled clip centres on a man who is battling his inner demons and gets stuck in a cycle of addiction and self-destructive behaviour. “When Dean and I were talking ideas for the video for Need You Now, it was a matter of building a narrative that actually didn’t directly reflect the lyrics. We wanted a story line about addiction and a guy stuck in a dark, downward spiral but we thought that the feeling connected with that imagery really sat well with the song and fit the visual tone we were after,” says Mick. Lewis has had a phenomenal start to the year. His debut single ‘Waves’ is currently sitting in theTop 10 on iTunes, Top 30 on Spotify and Top 25 on the ARIA singles chart, it has also hit 11 millionstreams globally. Dean’s new single ‘Need You Now’ was also instantly added to triple j. Fresh from wrapping up his European tour with indie darling Lisa Mitchell in February, the auspicious singer-songwriter went on to perform seven sold out shows as part of the 7 Layers tour in Belgium and the Netherlands, capturing the attention of new fans across the globe and returned to play at sold out shows with Boo Seeka. Dean will continue to take his live performance to his fans, performing songs from his debut EP at Groovin in the Moo, Maitland this weekend, before heading back to the UK to perform at the Great Escape Festival in May. Dean’s debut EP, Same Kind Of Different includes songs produced by Edd Holloway and Nick Atkinson (Gabrielle Aplin) and mixed by Dan Grech (Halsey, Josef Salvat) as well as tracks produced by John Castle (Vance Joy, Paul Kelly).
