Dead Letter Circus – The Gov

By Tony Polese · On September 19, 2016

Words by Fatema Sitabkhan

Hailing from sunny, shiny Brisbane in Queensland, Australia, Dead Letter Circus (DLC) has established itself to become an iconic band that endeavours to provide its listeners with an alternative rock genre of music. Comprising of 5 band members, DLC has become a popular name in the music industry, with their debut album This Is The

Warning ranking at #2 in the Australian albums chart.

The band does a fantastic job of capturing the essence of incorporating levels of improvising and creating some seriously complex, next-dimension style quality content into their musical style.

Since releasing their album Aesthesis in 2015, DLC has been on national tours around Australia, where they put up a show that entices their audience into a musical trance and leaves them speechless with their excellent showmanship skills. Upon attending their concert earlier last month, I felt like the room had been taken over by an eclectic and energetic soundwave of awesomeness.

We at Eventalaide were fortunate enough to see the band perform some of the songs from their latest album, as well as some of their other best-hit sellers, including “While You Wait”, which is the latest top-hit from their album Aesthesis. This album also helped the band find new and interesting ways to communicate their love for their music and how it has helped create a space where connectivity is a prime feature between their fans and them.  Once you’re in the room with them, you won’t be able to help yourself but jump in elation at the setting of the stage, the hauntingly enjoyable music that the band members produce, and the general feeling of being one giant soul that is made up of a number of souls brought together by the mutual love for DLC’s work.

The musical style of DLC presents with strong influences from fellow bands such as Slipknot, Deftones, Green Day, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, and My Chemical Romance (to name a select few). So, pretty much all the bands that I have grown up listening to – and DLC has done a great job at taking inspiration from these bands to infuse into their unique style of delivering their music effortlessly!

DLC will be back in Australia after undertaking their World Tour on November 26 at VANFEST in Forbes, Australia. Tickets are now available for purchase, but make sure you order them early or risk missing out on watching one of the most anticipated and successful bands to come out of Australia!
