As fans find the opportunity to take a refreshing dip back into the angular guitars and lovelorn lyrics of Bloc Party’s classic debut album Silent Alarm too good to pass up, their imminent tour is building into one of the most anticipated runs of 2018.

Now heading to Adelaide for a huge show at Thebarton Theatre, the band have expanded their Australian visit as they celebrate a record described by the NME as “one of the best of all time”.

Further incentive for a foray back into the not-so-distant past will be provided by newly announced support Haiku Hands. Known for their ability to bend genres at will, these Sydney-bred superstars are elite talents. Bringing together hip hop, pop, electronic, dance and disco, their sound will complement the jagged rhythms and disparate electro elements of Silent Alarm to a tee.

Tickets to already announced shows on this tour are being snapped up with frenzied excitement – so much so that a second engagement at Hordern Pavilion in Sydney has quickly been added. Other states are not far behind.
It stands to reason that this tour would generate such excitement as the quality and timelessness of an album like Silent Alarm cannot be questioned. Emerging from a post-Strokes world in 2004,Bloc Party were a band with a knack for centimetre perfect depictions of love, life andhelplessness.

Led by the impassioned yelp of Kele Okereke, they drove incisions into the bedrock of indie song-craft with tunes like Like ‘Eating Glass’, ‘Helicopter’, ‘Positive Tension’ and ‘Banquet’.

Ageing as well as anything released in the past two decades, the record sounds as crucial today as it did on release 13 years ago. It chronicled everything from all night rave ups to desolate break ups, always with one misty eye on a hopeful future.

Bloc Party are Kele Okereke (vocals, guitar), Russell Lissack (guitar), Justin Harris (bass) and Lousie Bartle (drums).
