Beer & BBQ Festival rises from the ashes in all its glory for the 2022 edition at the Adelaide Showground from Friday 15th until Sunday 17th July.
Returning with a monumental music line-up, literally 1000’s of beers, not-beers, ciders, seltzers, wines and other distilled libations, the fattest BBQ line-up ever hosted at the event, and all MC’d by Australia’s infamous outlaw country-rocker, musician, radio and TV personality, Henry Wagons. “Beer & BBQ Festival is perfect” (see accompanying video clip). Beer & BBQ is humbled to welcome back the entire touring class of the felled 2021; The Smith Street Band, Bodyjar, 28 Days, Wagons, Jess Lock, Scabz and DJ Mermaid. In addition, to headline Friday evening Byron Bay surf rockers Skegss, presented in partnership with the legends over at Pirate Life Brewing. Plus Melbourne party-punk heroes Private Function and Adelaide‘s own Wing Defence, Los Palms and Hubris, Mums Favourite & Molly Rocket who are presented by UniBar ADL, and Billy Bob’s Special BBQ Jam. In a Beer & BBQ first, and with support from the SA Government’s Music Development Office, the festival will hit the road to scour regional SA for the best new rock and roll talent to be unearthed at 4 very special regional showcases in June. A winner from each will then be teleported onto the ABBF stage to compete for cash and infamy! |
ABBF’s BBQ line-up is full to the brim of national and local legends. Australia’s first burger truck Beatbox Kitchen helmed by cult Melbourne chef Raph Rashid which will be coming to Adelaide for the very first time along with fellow Collingwood-born burger slingers Huxtaburger. Fatigue may have claimed Sneaky Pickle as a bricks and mortar venue but the local BBQ legends second coming will commence collaborating with one of Australia’s finest pitmasters, Mike Patrick of Fancy Hanks. In world debut Big Bad Wolf, a rock and roll collab between former Adelaide Food Guide Chef of the Year Sarah Turner and ‘If You’re Game’ travelling table mastermind Alana Brabin, who promise “big eff off flavours and a great time”. Also grilling will be USA BBQ stalwarts RG’s and No Beard Required plus new kids on the block La Flame’s North African flavour. Filipino BBQ will be well represented by two of Victoria’s finest; B-Boys BBQ and Hoy Pinoy. Plus Bread & Bone, Cheekies Hot Chicken, Taco Cartel, Vegan trendsetters Two-Bit Villains, Korean charcoal by SO Urban with more to be announced. Expect the beer line-up to drop in May, but we can say it will feature a host of new brands from near and far who have never presented at ABBF and many never in South Australia. |
Director of BBF Aaron Sandow says after a couple of years of disappointment it’s such a good feeling to be getting the band back together. “It’s no secret the last couple of years have been tough for us and everyone in the event industry, but it’s pretty heartening to see all the positive messages we got and to see how many loyal punters have held on to their ticket. The moment we light those fire drums on Friday the 15th of July will be a bloody great feeling” said Sandow. “We’re stoked that our 2021 program have stuck with us and are proud to be working with the Music Development Office to present one of our biggest on-stage line-ups of live music. It’s like a fully fledged music festival now bolted onto what was already like Christmas in July for beer and BBQ fans, all without increasing ticket prices at all. The beer program is still to drop and there’s a whole bunch of cool new things on site that punters will just need to discover for themselves. We’re forthin’.” On top of the music, beer and BBQ there will be so much happening across the weekend you won’t know where to begin. including the Royal Adelaide Beer & Cider Awards to open proceedings, the Up In Smoke BBQ Comp, the iconic Beer Bod Wet T-Shirt Comp finale, wrestling from Riot City Wrestling, tattoo parlour, skateboarding demo’s set up by the Pirate Life Crew, a big screen to watch the footy on and the debut of the pie-eating contest, Crafty Pint’s Air Guitar Championships, How good? Loads more still to be announced as well! |
