Album Review – Singles and E.P. Round Up! – Various inc’s Pink, Jack Jones Evanescence and more
Review by Geoff Jenke
RICK PRICE & JACK JONES – Turn Turn Turn. (Sony Music)
Rick Price and Jack Jones share a common love for the west-coast California sounds of the 60’ and 70’s. Turn Turn Turn is a single released of the upcoming studio album “California Dreaming” was originally written by Pete Segar in the late 1950’s but is best remembered as an international hit for The Byrds in 1965. This version remains faithful to The Byrds with Jack and Rick’s voices combining beautifully in front of some lovely guitar work. On the strength of this song I eagerly await the album release on September 29.

EVANESCENCE – Imperfection (Sony music)
Imperfection is the newest single off Evanescence’s upcoming album “Synthesis”. Evanescence have a huge supporter base here in Australia and have over sold over 700,00 albums in Australia alone. This track was written by the band and find the band in superb form with lush vocals and a heavy bass set over a beautiful orchestral sound. The new album will feature some of their biggest songs reimagined with orchestral and electronic versions as well as this new song.

CRAIG DAVID – Heartline (Sony Music)
Craig David is one of the most prolific and successful UK male artists of all time and he returns to our airwaves with this brand new single Heartline. He has sold over 15 million albums and achieved 16 top ten hits. This song should make it 17. This R&B track Heartline is taken from his seventh studio album, “The Time is Now” which will be released early 2018. The singing is soulfully smooth as one would expect from Craig and set over an even smoother infectious R&B beat. If you are a fan of Craig’s you know what to expect and nobody does it better.

IAIN ARCHIBALD BAND – Review Mirror (BSE Australia)
The Iain Archibald Band are a 4-piece Country Rock band who hail from Melbourne. Iain Archibald is singer- songwriter for the band, as well as lead guitarist. The single was recorded in Albury NSW but was mixed in Nashville USA. The song is a story about love and the inspiration to move forward and is taken from their self-titled release. If you like a little bit of country in your rock, you could do far worse than this release. Sometimes the country does rock.

REMINGTON – Girlfriend Weather (Amy Jack Music)
Remington has opened for the likes of John Mayer, Stevie Nicks, Def Leppard and even Steel Panther. However, his music sounds like none of these artists. He is an accomplished saxophone, keyboard and guitar player and has nearly 250 songs in his catalogue. Remington coined the phrase “groove rock” and this aptly sums up his sound on the song. It is an infectious blend of beats and electronica with a smooth R&B voice.
