Eclipse Pink Floyd Orchestrated is a world class event featuring 40 musicians and singers comprising performers from the Southern Cross Symphony and some of Adelaide’s finest rock musicians. Additionally, special guest from SA Public Primary School (SAPPS) Choir for ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ will be a highlight of the show. Following its premiere at the Adelaide Festival Theatre on July 17 for one night only and in welcome news just to hand, the show, which was designed to tour nationally and internationally has now been confirmed to play Hamer Hall in Melbourne later this year in which in these covid times is a remarkable coup for any show looking to go on tour.
Eclipse Pink Floyd Orchestrated brings to life Pink Floyd’s legendary rich and powerful sonic soundscape with the original synthesised sounds being performed with the opulence of the orchestral instruments they were electronically simulating taking this aural feast to a new level.
The event celebrates the debut performance of Southern Cross Symphony, Adelaide’s second and newest professional orchestra under its own banner and in further exciting news, will perform this show under the baton of world-renowned Australian conductorMatthew Wood.
Matthew was recently appointed Head of Artistic Production with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the BBC’s longest performing and one of the most prolific orchestras in the UK. He has conducted many of the world’s finest orchestras and has thrown his support behind the Southern Cross Symphony’s production of Eclipse Pink Floyd Orchestrated with a special visit to Adelaide to make this show his swansong before he leaves to take up his new role.
“The objective of Southern Cross Symphony is simple – to keep South Australian Musicians working by delivering a diverse program of high-quality music. Covid has been a very tough time for the arts, and it’s an honor to conduct this group of talented musicians at this world-premiere event in Adelaide before I head to the UK. The Southern Cross Symphony is a great and exciting initiative that will provide a wonderful addition to the musical scene throughout South Australia” said Matthew.
Southern Cross Symphony is an attractive new option for musical and theatre producers wanting to bring events to Adelaide where orchestral performance is required and where choice may be limited. Southern Cross Symphony recently completed a wonderful season with Chess the Musical at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
Eclipse, Pink Floyd Orchestrated also has the support and backing of another prominent arts identity, Phil Bathols. One of Australia’s most successful independent promoters who has toured some of the biggest names in the world, the South Australian born and raised, promoter / producer also has a track record of recognising, supporting and touring South Australian talent. Phil was behind the Zep Boys, Led Zeppelin Masters international tour and is now keen to repeat this success with Eclipse, Pink Floyd Orchestrated.
“Adelaide is the home to some incredible talent and it’s such an honour to be able to be in a position to showcase it beyond the South Australian borders. The Led Zeppelin Masters show was a huge international success and I can’t see any reason why this new show can’t replicate that. It is truly world class, the sound is just incredible and I’m excited to take it on tour. Melbourne is just the first stop following the world-premiere in Adelaide.
“In my 20 plus years in this industry, I cannot recall a tougher time. It’s no secret that since March 2020, the entertainment industry has suffered immensely and paramount to its return, is the success of independently produced and/or promoted events. The supply chain behind these shows is extensive and its essential that any and all support is forthcoming” said Phil.
Eclipse Pink Floyd Orchestrated is a fully independent production that will showcase our world-class local talent and then take it to the world. We invite South Australians to experience this extraordinary show and support local.
