Taste of the Best at Australia’s Most Prestigious Wine Show
Taste of the Best, now in its 21st year, will feature more than 2,600 local and national new release vintages and award- winning wines, giving hundreds of Adelaideans the opportunity to taste the country’s best regional and fine wines on Friday, 4th October 2019.
Wine enthusiasts will be able to sample the wines entered into The Royal Adelaide Wine Show competition. This year 376 exhibitors will showcase their wine, encouraging locals and those further afield to rediscover home grown offerings while also creating an intimate wine tasting experience to kick off the October long weekend.
“It’s a special opportunity for people to taste an expansive range of wine all in the one place. We have many wineries and independent winemakers taking park in this year’s event, with approximately 70 per cent of wines represented from South Australia,” says Wine Committee Chair, Greg Follett.
This year, many rare single varietals will be on offer at Taste of the Best including Gewurtzraminer, Piquepoul, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Meunier and Alicante Bouschet.
The tasting showcase at the Adelaide Showground boasts diversity in its wine, with bottles on offer starting anywhere from $20 per bottle, and upwards of $150. With 70 categories on offer, there is a wine to suit everyone.
Tickets to Taste of the Best include a tasting glass to take home, cocktail food, a catalogue listing all the wines available, and live music performed by country musician, Tanya Cornish.
There’s also a chance to get even more intimate with the experience at the ‘Riedel Sensory Workshop.’ Wine buffs can learn how specific glassware can enhance the flavour and aroma of wine, plus there’s more tastings on offer.
For those overwhelmed with the amount of choice, a Masterclass facilitated by the National Wine Education and Training Centre is on offer and includes a Wine Education session to ensure guests are tasting like pros!
The Royal Adelaide Wine Show is the most prestigious wine show in the country with each wine judged on colour, clarity, purity of fruit, bouquet and palate. The panel, headed by Louisa Rose, will assess wines over four days to determine medal and trophy winners. Taste of the Best allows consumers to experience all of the wines entered into this nationally recognised competition.
“Taste of the Best gives consumers an amazing chance to taste our country’s world-renowned wines. They’ll also have the chance to meet winery owners and winemakers, while enjoying cocktail food and live entertainment. What a great way to spend your Friday night!” says Greg Follett.
