Tasting Australia – an epicurean journey to devour
Food and beverage lovers: prepare your plates and glasses.
Tasting Australia is coming to nourish stomachs, satisfy palettes and provide eating and
drinking experiences unlike any other.
The full program for Tasting Australia 2017 is out now – and there’s an epicurean journey
unfolding throughout South Australia from April 30 to May 7 for all to discover.
Curated by the festival’s creative team of Jock Zonfrillo (Restaurant Orana) and Simon
Bryant (The Cook and The Chef), and with beloved cook Maggie Beer as patron, Tasting
Australia 2017 offers more than 100 stimulating and moreish events.
Joining the feast in 2017 is culinary icon Marco Pierre White (United Kingdom), the World’s Best Female Chef Ana Ros (Hiša Franko, Slovenia), legendary Riesling winemaker Egon Müller (Germany) and Australia’s culinary elite: Paul Carmichael (Momofuku Seiōbo,
Sydney), Lennox Hastie (Firedoor, Sydney), Clayton Wells (Automata, Sydney), Victor Liong
(Lee Ho Fook, Melbourne), Analiese Gregory (Bar Brose, Sydney) and more.
Adelaide is where foodies have come to explore what’s new on the menu since the festival started in 1997.
The best part? Trying these world-class products direct from the source.
“The city is just the start (of Tasting Australia) – get out to our regions, visit a farm and meet the producer, enjoy a wine masterclass or personalised tasting with the winemaker, harvest olives, make sausages or discover a regional gem,” Bryant said.
And so in 2017 Tasting Australia is clustering events in region to celebrate these roots and the homegrown heroes of the kitchen, cellar, garden, vineyard and beyond.
Regional highlights include:
Barossa: Taste of the Earth showcasing new-release wines from Schild Family
Vineyard, Saltram Underground Tour with Chef’s Choice 5-course feast and the
Annual Barossa Camino from award-winning Henschke Wines to Hutton Vale Farm.
Flinders Ranges & Outback: Lamb Tasting at Rawnsley Park in the Woolshed
Restaurant and Hot Rocks Dinner at the iconic Prairie Hotel in Parachilna.
Yorke Peninsula: Feast on Yorkes’ fair-style event at Barley Stacks Wines and Yorkes
Uncorked will host Taste From The Land at DEMA Vista.
Fleurieu Peninsula: Heroines Table and Heroines Soul to Glass, celebrating industry
leaders in food and beverage who happen to be women.
