Republic – Winter Menu Launch review

Republic Norwood launches their new Winter Menu

Words by Emma Dignon

Norwood’s Republic Launches Innovative Take on Winter Pub Food With a renovated venue that mixes tradition with modern elegance, it is no wonder Republic in Norwood has officially introduced their all-new and innovative winter menu.

The team of chefs behind the new menu were seeking to curate a selection of high-quality local food that smashes the stigma surrounding pub meals. Eventalaide was invited to the Winter Menu Launch at the Republic and partnered with a glass of Hahndorf Hills wine in hand; we were able to experience the creative and comforting winter menu.

On entrée, the haloumi fries with lemon and chipotle was an absolute favourite. Diverging from the kind of chips, you would expect from a pub, the fries were crispy and lightly seasoned, which balanced well with the crunchy cheese and flavoursome sauce.

New at Republic are the selections of salads that are anything but expected. The Supercharged Salad tosses the healthiest ingredients together for any conscious eater to enjoy while also feeling full. Combining pumpkin with sweet potato, lentils, pepitas, sunflower seeds, kale, sprouting seeds and kale all topped with a flavoured cumin yogurt, this salad is something different for the more adventurous eater to try.

The main menu features all the well-loved classics approached in new ways. With chicken, pork, Atlantic salmon and pork belly there is a meal for everyone in the family. All of these main favourites are cooked to perfection with the attention to detail Republic is known for.

For the finish, the dessert menu delivered exactly what you want on a cold winter’s night. Sticky date pudding drizzled with a warm dark toffee sauce is enough to incline yourself to crawl into bed with a food coma. Another fabulous addition to the desert menu will be loved by all ages, a chocolate brownie ice-cream sandwich with hot fudge sauce, which is just as much fun to eat as you imagine.

If you’re seeking a meal with a difference and a wide selection to boot, head to Republic in Norwood next time you are feeling peckish.
