The highly anticipated wine bar, The Noble Gentleman, has launched into Adelaide’s small bar scene in Topham Mall this week.
Kidd Retail Group, the organisation behind Adelaide’s iconic inner-city microbrewery, Lady Burra Brewhouse, has created a unique venue, focusing on South Australian produce and wine.
“Some of the country’s best produce hails from South Australia, and The Noble Gentleman is the perfect place to showcase this,” says Kidd Retail Group Managing Director, Steven Kidd.
“From the food offerings to the wine list, we have made sure to include as many local suppliers as possible. Our cheese is sourced from Barossa Cheese and Section28 Artisan Cheeses, our smallgoods are from Barossa Fine Foods and the wine list features a large range of South Australian wines.”
Taking it one step further, The Noble Gentleman will be acting as a cellar door for small, boutique local wineries who may not have a cellar door attached to their vineyard. From September, the venue will showcase a different local winery each month, with wine tastings and meet the maker opportunities weekly.
The menu features a range of sharing options, including a bucket of fresh prawns, lamb cutlets and cheese and cured meats platters – the perfect small dishes to enjoy over a glass of wine or two. Non-wine drinkers have also been considered, with three brews from next door’s Lady Burra Brewhouse pouring on tap, plus a comprehensive list of expertly crafted cocktails.
The fit out, which was completed by national commercial interiors company, Pinnacle Commercial Interiors, incorporates dark brick work and blackened finish concrete floors, creating a dark and mysterious feel.
“The combination of recycled dark bricks on the walls, the intimate booth seating and unique light fittings, combined with the sheer height of the venue, all work together to create an intimate and seductive venue,” says Kidd.
“The venue features large sash windows that look out to Topham Mall and are fully retractable – perfect for enjoying a wine during the warmer months, or to create a cosy, enclosed vibe during winter. We have also made sure to design the bar with ample onsite storage for all our wines, creating a clever and creative wine display behind the bar.”
The Noble Gentleman also features a number of key recycled pieces, including a feature wall of eclectic op-shop items, which were handpicked by Steven Kidd from a local op-shop on Unley Road, and a meat display fridge for the cured meats.
“At the heart of the bar is our antipasto display fridge, which we recycled from an old meat shop and repurposed to store the meats which can be found on our platters,” says Kidd.
Offering live entertainment every weekend, knowledgeable staff and a perfectly engineered menu, The Noble Gentleman is making Topham Mall Adelaide’s newest go-to hotspot.
