Jamaica Blue Winter Menu Review

By Tony Polese · On June 30, 2017

Words by Kayleigh Collins

“In Jamaica, there is a saying “wan wan coco ful baskit”.

It simply means that if you slow down, stop rushing and take your time, you will achieve your goal. At Jamaica Blue, we couldn’t agree more. We believe that everybody should take a little time out of their day to recharge, relax and reflect; to stop for a while and simply enjoy the moment.” – This was a piece I found off Jamaica Blue’s website and I couldn’t agree more!

Tony and I had the pleasure of having some of Jamaica Blue’s latest divines.

As we were indulging in a warm coffee and chai latte before our meals came out, I couldn’t help but notice how homely the atmosphere at the Rundle Mall Jamaica Blue felt. We spent about 3 hours in our little cozy corner eating and chatting away.

We also had the pleasure of being surrounded by owner, Mona’s friendly conversation. She updated us with quite a few of Jamaica Blue’s achievements over the past year and asked us to wish her luck (not that they need it) as they are currently a finalist in the Restaurant and Catering Awards for best city cafe for catering in Australia as well as nominated as a finalist for the City Messenger Awards.

Tony and I started off with sharing 3 of their winter warmer pies, we had a pork and fennel, beef peppercorn and mushroom and lastly a scrumptious chicken corn and buttermilk! The pastry was so light and fluffy, it honestly felt like heaven melting in my mouth – Yes it’s all homemade!

We also paired this with a serving of sweet potato chips. This really pulled the whole meal together perfectly.

Just when we thought we could not possibly fit anything else into our forever thankful stuffed tummies, Mona brought us some dessert to share. We had lemon loaf with honey and yogurt, lemon sugar muffins and a Lindt chocolate with walnut brownie.

We left with the biggest smiles on our faces for sure.

The menu is filled with delicious all day breakfasts (because who doesn’t want breakfast for lunch), full serving lunch meals, the most divine desserts you could possibly imagine and coffees for everybody’s fancy.

If you are looking for a new cafe or restaurant to try a new delicious meal, just to unwind or a comfy space while working on your laptop while sipping on a latte then I would 100% recommend giving Jamaica Blue a try.
