Victoria Square will be transformed into a pub-lover’s oasis, when Adelaide’s top pubs and hotels unite for the inaugural Pub Grub Festival on the 9th of September 2017.
The festival will raise a glass to pubs around the city, showcasing a range of delicious and unique menu offerings, as well as the state’s best craft brewers and local wine.
With a background in pubs and hotels, Pub Grub Festival creator, Josh O’Shaughnessy, set out to replicate what people love most about their favourite tavern.
“Having worked with pubs and hotels for the last few years, I have always been impressed with the standard of pub grub being served.
“I wanted to create an event that could showcase the quality of pub grub and remind people why they need to be checking out what Adelaide’s pubs and hotels have to offer,” says Josh O’Shaughnessy.
A line up of the city’s best known pubs will showcase their delicious menus, including the Gilbert Street Hotel, Saracens Head Hotel, Oxford Hotel, Publishers, Lady Daly, Prince Albert and Seven Stars.
Forget deep fried schnitzel and cheap rump steak, the festival will put a spotlight on modern pub cuisine, boasting burgers, BBQ wings and Asian style street food.
“Our goal is to replicate what we love about pubs… This includes great food from some of our favourite venues but also the best beer and wine from our major sponsors, Woodstock Wine and Vale Ale,” says Josh O’Shaughnessy.
Victoria Square will come to life with live music throughout the day and night, as well as a ‘chill out’ zone for families, equipped with bean bags, picnic rugs and kid’s entertainment.
Come September, the city will be engulfed in footy finals fever, with the Pub Grub Festival catering for sports fans with a big screen to catch all the action.
With a home final for the state’s local teams looking likely, the festival will be a short tram ride away for footy fans who want to converge on Victoria squire to celebrate after a big game.
“The atmosphere is the reason people will love the Pub Grub Festival… We’re really excited to create a fun and relaxed vibe that makes going to a pub with friends so enjoyable,” says Josh O’Shaughnessy.
Tickets to the Pub Grub Festival are currently on sale and can be purchased on www.pubgrubfest.com.au.
