Burganomix

Burganomix
2/1 Colley Terrace, Glenelg
January 7, 2016

Burgers? Check. Beach? Check. Fresh drinks, laidback vibe and friendly staff? Check, check, check. Glenelg-based Burganomix is the newest addition to the Adelaide burger joint family and so far seems to be ticking all the right boxes. Recently Eventalaide was invited to sample some of the tasty morsels and juicy burgers on the menu at their VIP Media Launch.

The restaurant is welcoming and airy with colourful chairs, rustic tables and a beautiful outlook to the bustling Mosely Square across the road. The vast menu offers a range of beef, chicken, pork, steak, vegetarian and seafood burgers along with a classic selection of salads and sides such as wings, fries and onion rings.

Each burger can be customised with a choice of a brioche, sesame seed, multi-grain or gluten free bun – or if you’re feeling REALLY healthy you can get the ‘Buggsy’ and forgo the bun altogether, instead wrapping your burger in lettuce. An extra dollar lets you add your favourite burger trimmings including the ever popular picks of beetroot, avocado, caramelised onion or pancetta.

After pondering the thirty-plus burger choices, we settled on starting with two serves of the Smokey BBQ and Sweet Chipotle Chicken Wings before following with The Sebastian Burger and the Nomix Burger.

The both servings of wings were crispy and well cooked, smothered in tangy sauce and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Once we started, we couldn’t stop snacking on them – even after we had our fill of burgers!

The Sebastian Burger had generous lashings of crab meat, fresh coriander red onion, lettuce, cucumber, grated carrot and a hint of chilli. At $18 it was at the very top end of Burganomix’s price range. The majority of burgers hover around the very reasonable $13-15 mark.

The Nomix was a little bit more of a mouthful, stuffed with a beef patty, mayo, lettuce, beetroot, free range egg, tomato, pineapple, pancetta, caramelised onion, spicy mustard, pickles, cheese and chutney. Pheow!

The servings were generous and the ingredients fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection. The flavours in both burgers complemented each other well. Pair this with attentive, friendly staff who answered our many questions and requests with smiles and quality hospitality and Burganomix is certainly a burger place worth a visit next time you are down at the Bay looking for something scrumptious and satisfying to munch on!
