THE RECLINK COMMUNITY CUP RETURNS TO ADELAIDE IN 2019
‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’
The Reclink Community Cup, the much-adored charity football match between local Adelaide musicians and media will return toCooper’s Stadium, Norwood on Sunday, 4thAugust to raise money for Reclink Australia.
Reclink is celebrating 25-years since the first Melbourne Reclink Community Cup in 1993. Since then, the event’s success has been replicated nationally with Adelaide now in its fifth year. This year’s theme draws from the legendary songwriter/musicians, Paul Kelly and Kev Carmody’s classic hit, ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’ which will be celebrated across Australia.
The annual friendly football match pits some of the states best musicians (The Rockatoos) and largest media personalities (The Anchors) against each other while raising awareness and funds for Reclink Australia. The funds raised contribute to the running of art and sport programs for disenfranchised and disadvantaged communities in South Australia. In 2018 the Adelaide Reclink Community Cup raised over $20,000.
Last year, The Rockatoos were victorious for the fourth consecutive year, cementing the chip on the Anchors’ shoulders to gain the victory in 2019. With more than 2,000 spectators through the gates of Norwood’s Coopers Stadium in 2018 the event’s festive, family friendly atmosphere is the reason players, sponsors and supporters have returned each year since its inaugural match in 2015.
“We are delighted to announce the return of the Reclink Community Cup in Adelaide for another year,” said John Ballis, CEO, Reclink Australia.
“Since the inception of the event in Adelaide from 2015 we have seen South Australia get behind the cause and come out in numbers to support the Reclink Community Cup. These events wouldn’t be possible without the support of all of our sponsors, organising committees, community groups, volunteers and players who go above and beyond to help make the event a success each year.” Said John Ballis.
Registrations are now open in Adelaide, with the line-up for pre-game, post-game and halftime entertainment yet to be revealed.
