Split review

By Tony Polese · On January 18, 2017

If you love a good horror movie with lots of twists, then this is the film for you.

Firstly, do not be late for this movie.  You won’t want to miss the first five minutes.

The film revolves around a man called Kevin (James McAvoy) who has 24 personalities which are all distinct to each other. The film commences with Kevin or Dennis as we soon learn kidnapping three teenage girls.

He takes them to a mystery underground spot (nobody would ever pick this location) and the horror and confusion starts from now.  All of the personalities come out to play including a child one which the audience find quite amusing, a fashionista character, amongst many others.

Taylor-Joy who is the main teenage character plays her role amazingly and her eyes being so huge sure is captivating.  We soon learn she been through horrible times in her life making her tougher to face this horrible situation compared to the other teenage girls.

A therapist, Dr. Karen Fletcher (Betty Buckley), is also heavily involved in the film and we learn that she is trying to work with Kevin to ensure that personality number 24 (the beast) never comes out.

I will not divulge whether this does occur but this is a movie which does involve torture of teenage girls so it may not be a movie for all.  But if you do go and see the movie, we promise that you will love the ending.

So to summarise, this  movie is jaw dropping, edge of your seat thrilling, chilling, scary, but strangely at times, funny.

Split is in cinemas from January 26.
