1917 is one of the best films I’ve seen this year. With a heart-touching story based on real events surrounding Britain in World War 1. Following two young British privates on a task that seems impossible, crossing deep into enemy lines to save not only themselves but 1600 men and one of the soldier’s brothers. With countless traps and unforseen unfortunate circumstances along the way, the two men struggle for their lives.
The movie is set out in such a way that it seems like as if it is 1 continuous take, like you’re following the lives of the soldiers step by step with no cutaway scenes, which gives a really realistic effect and makes you feel great empathy for the characters.
It’s astonishing to believe that these characters and this war were once all too real. You will feel a sense of victory and sadness. And if you don’t know much about World War 1, you will soon realise that it was absolute ‘hell’.
The acting, dialogue and cinematography is absolutely brilliant and this movie will definitely will win awards.A really enjoyable and recommendable watch.
1917 is now Showing at Palace Nova and Palace Prospect.
