After initially bypassing Adelaide on its national tour in 2010, it was Adelaide’s turn to experience the magic that is Mary Poppins.
On a calm mid week winter evening, I made my way to the Festival Theatre with eager excitement and anticipation.
The effects, the music and the magic brought absolute joy to me and even the effect of being emotional at the end of the musical. It sure is a magical experience throughout.
Adapted from original the PL Travers book and the beloved Disney film, Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins comes alive onstage in an unforgettable and supercalifragilisticexpialidocious way. The dance numbers are perfect and fantastic staging throughout the production too.
The award winning musical features original music including Jolly Holiday, Spoon Full of Sugar, Step in Time, Feed the Birds and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and new songs including Practically Perfect and Anything Can Happen; making it an experience that must be seen to be believed. It also teaches kids and adults alike good life lessons.
Starring Stefanie Jones as Mary Poppins, Jack Chambers as Bert, Patti Newton as the Bird Woman, Tom Wren as George Banks, Lucy Maunder as Winifred Banks, Chelsea Plumley as Miss Andrew, Gareth Isaac as Robertson Ay, Fraser Goodreid as Michael Banks and Makayla Healy as Jane Banks, this musical is practically perfect in every way.
Mary Poppins is now on until August 27 at Adelaide Festival Theatre. Don’t miss out on experiencing the incredible magic that Mary Poppins is.
