Jaded Vanities – Fringe

By Madeleine Broadbridge · On February 24, 2016

Jaded Vanities – Fringe Show
The Garden of Unearthly Delights
February 12th – March 13th, 2016

Admittedly, I’m no burlesque expert. Yet in spite of this, I feel confident in saying Jaded Vanities is unlike any burlesque show you’ll have ever seen before. Neither fans nor feathers nor the usual frills make an appearance in this hour-long mesmerising performance because, simply put, Jaded Vanities is by no means a traditional burlesque show…

In the opening dialogue our masked host solemnly advises us that we are embarking on a wild and dangerous ride that will only end when he next appears to bid us farewell. We are told that this is a show that is designed to make us FEEL.

Awe. Shock. Discomfort. Fascination. The feelings are numerous and intense, and are indeed much like the forewarned rollercoaster.

Coming from the self-confessed demented mind of Russall S. Beatie (The Empire Strips Back – A Star Wars Burlesque Parody and The Dames Of Throne Burlesque Show), Jaded Vanities takes you on a truly dark sexual journey, pushing boundaries and taking the audience to the brink of their comfort zone – and, for many, beyond.

Performed by highly-skilled and stunningly beautiful artists, the routines are passionate and powerful, displaying incredible prowess, flexibility and control. Pair this with lighting and a soundtrack that are as equally intense and emotive, along with unique costuming concepts, and you are in for a truly one-of-a-kind performance that is a just manifestation of an Unearthly Delight.

Although it’s no striptease, sass and sexiness come in spades and this late-night R-rated show is guaranteed to get your blood pumping and keep your eyes propped wide open. Shocking, stimulating and downright outrageous, Jaded Vanities is a show for the curious Fringe-goer.

To witness this sensual performance in the flesh (quite literally), purchase your tickets at www.adelaidefringe.com.au/fringetix. Jaded Vanities runs each Wednesday – Sunday until March 13.
