The Oxford Hotel in North Adelaide has transformed into an art mecca in recent times. Dave Court is the latest art curator and has splashed some paint around on the upper story with help from artist Henry Jock Walker.
To celebrate the opening, there were beats, cocktails and finger foods as well as live art, which was auctioned on the night. The space is fresh and vibrant, with whimsical blank canvases juxtaposed against the painted walls.
Henry Stentiford, Harriet McKay and Haris Koutlakis were the artists whose works were auctioned on the night with some spirited bidding for the three pieces.
Girl About Town organised the event with a pumping house soundtrack keeping the crowd entertained. The cocktails on offer were popular as were the finger foods, duck rolls, chicken burgers and cheesecake squares to finish.
Co-owner of The Oxford Hotel and creative enthusiast, Anastasia Murray, is thrilled to see ongoing support for the evolving art scene.
Anastasia Murray says, “Art, if done right, is exhilarating, to be able to stand around it, amongst it, comprehend it, have your mind opened because of it, even if you’re confused by it!”
It’s exciting having a well-known establishment like the Oxford Hotel supporting the thriving art scene and no doubt the collaboration will go from strength to strength.
