After All This is an immersive theatre experience not to be missed.
First brought to life by Melbourne-based theatre company Elbow Room and premiering at Brisbane Festival in 2011, the award-winning show has been reimagined by powerhouse duo Caitlin Ellen Moore (Wickedly Good Productions) and Nate Troisi for its South Australian Premiere.
Walking into RUMPUS Theatre in Bowden, you are welcomed into the space with a video introduction that further builds the anticipation and mystique around the show, following curious descriptors such as “…if you have ever entertained the notion that after all this there is a REAL, tangible, higher evolutionary level beyond the confines of the Earth (and the body), then you will want to attend this meeting.”
The space is accessible and welcoming. Tuesday 4 October 2022 was the preview show, and there is a sense of anticipation and excitement.
Guided into the lobby, drinks are available and gradually slight commotion turns your attention. You aren’t sure when or how the show has started but you are there and engaged in the story telling of an early experience of questioning the existence of a higher power.
Describing what happens from there, well, you really need to experience that for yourself.
You don’t know who is in the cast as they slowly reveal themselves throughout the 60 minute show. The performance is seamless that at times you aren’t sure what is part show, part reality.
The show makes great use of the space and really is innovative and immersive.
The creators stated they are keen on making a show that is a holistic experience and on that they delivered.
If you like to ask the big questions, or enjoy a light hearted existential inquiry presented in an engaging and curious way, or are curious about cults, this show is for you.
After All This will show at Rumpus Theatre from 4th to 16th October at RUMPUS, 100 Sixth Street, Bowden SA 5007. Tickets are available here:
