BLOODY LOVELY DEBUTS AT #4 ON THE ARIA ALBUM CHART – THEIR HIGHEST EVER DEBUT
+ NEW SHOWS ADDED TO TOUR
It is with much pride that I OH YOU announce that DZ Deathrays’ third album has debuted at #4 on the overall ARIA Album Chart, and was the #1 Australian album this week, making Bloody Lovely their highest ever ARIA Album Chart debut.
Following an extensive album campaign which earned DZ Deathrays widespread critical acclaim, including being named triple j Feature Album and FBi Radio Album of the Week, the band opened their own Bloody Lovely Pop-Up Bars across the east coast for the weekend of release. They then followed up with a massive tour announcement, which will see them play to their biggest rooms to date.
DZ Deathrays’ last LP Black Rat (2014) debuted at #23 and their first album Bloodstreams (2012) at #107 – both earned the Bundaberg-hailing duo an ARIA Award each for Best Hard Rock/Metal Album.
“This is psycho. We can’t believe the love from our fans! Having sold out so many shows so quickly alongside our first ever top 10 charting with Bloody Lovely coming in at number 4 – we’re overwhelmed! It’s something that’s never happened for us before and we are really grateful.” – DZ Deathrays
Having already added second Brisbane and Melbourne shows to their Bloody Lovely Tour, due to overwhelming demand the party-thrash duo have added a third Brisbane show on Thursday 24 Mayat The Triffid – on sale right away. This will be the final Brisbane show announced on this tour so fans are urged to get in early to avoid disappointment.
The now 12-date Australian leg of the Bloody Lovely Tour will kick off on Friday 4 May at Adelaide’s The Gov, with shows in Perth, Newcastle, Sydney, Canberra, Ballarat and Hobart to follow, plus multiple shows in Melbourne and Brisbane. DZ Deathrays will also play three shows in New Zealand at the end of April.
Last week the duo released the official video for their third single, ‘Like People’ featuring Murray Cook, the original red Wiggle, thrashing it out while juggling hot potatoes! It has already notched up over 40,000 views and has had widespread pick up.
Bloody Lovely is a palpable and tangible progression for DZ Deathrays. It is the amalgamation of all that has come before it and sees the band expand on the signature party-thrash sound we have come to adore, as well as kicking in the afterburners while we all hold on for dear life!
‘Bloody Lovely is a Molotov cocktail of pulsating riffs, hard-hitting percussion and vocalist Shane Parsons’ rambunctious delivery.’ – The Music
★★★★ ‘DZ Deathrays still make a hell of a rock ‘n’ roll racket, but the guitarist and drummer appear to have learned the value of prioritising melody over constantly bowing down to the riff.’ – The Australian
‘It’s easy to forget that this huge, euphoric wall of sound has been built by just two people; this record is a huge progression for the band and their most rounded and mature effort to date.’ – STACK
9/10 ‘…the album relentlessly launches into a high-energy throttle, which will no doubt skyrocket their Australian rock sound into stardom. It’s gritty, it’s got emotion and intention, and there’s no better way to get people talking, dancing and moshing in 2018.’ – Beat
