Local Swimwear Designer’s Bikini Bible

By Tony Polese · On January 24, 2017

Local designer Kate Campbell is making a splash this summer, launching her very own range of swimwear, Kato Swim, exclusively to her King William Road Boutique, Coltish.

After studying fashion design at FBI Fashion College in Sydney, Kate launched three signature collections, including a variety of Australian made bikinis and one-pieces that are flattering, fashionable and functional.

“I started Kato Swim out of my love for creativity and quality design… I want to create fresh, bold, unpredictable swimwear that reflects the Australian beach life and the women who swim in it.

“I like to work with strong colours and one-off prints so the end result is striking… My pieces aim to flatter a variety of body shapes,” says swimwear designer, Kate Campbell.

With summer in full swing, the talented twenty-seven-year-old is revealing this year’s biggest swimwear trends, with her extensive bikini guide.

“2017 is all about cheeky cut bottoms, strappy tops and athletic shapes, such as halter necklines and high cut pieces,” says Kate Campbell.

When hitting the beach, Kate says it’s important to choose swimwear that suits your body shape with women typically falling into three categories, athletic, apple or hourglass.

“For athletic and petite frames you want to create a bit of curve and lengthen the leg, through high cut or cheeky cut bottoms with tie sides.

Tops with ruffles, a bit of padding and in a bright print will also accentuate and create the illusion of a bigger bust,” says Kate Campbell.

For those with an apple shape who are conscious of hiding their rounder waist, Kate says one pieces will be a summer savior.

“To make your waist look more narrow, a one piece, with contrasting side panels and a V neckline will create a more hourglass shape,” says Kate Campbell.

For those blessed with an hourglass figure, Kate says the options are endless with any shape and style set to flatter.

“An hourglass figure is the easiest to shop for… If you really want to accentuate your figure, look for tops with support, an underwire or molded cups and sturdy straps,” says Kate Campbell.

The Kato Swim range is exclusively stocked at Coltish Boutique, alongside a great selection of other Australian labels, including Vama Style, Mink Pink and Somedays Lovin.

Items from Kate’s bikini guide can be purchased at Coltish Boutique on 165 King William Road, or online at www.coltish.com.au.
